Teacher Appreciation Positive Referrals

Flip the Script!
Every week, teachers send home Positive Referrals to tell parents and guardians how awesome our students at WHS are. Now, it’s your turn to return the favor!
May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to flood our teachers and staff with the same kind of love they show us. Think about that one person who always listens, the teacher who stays late to help you understand a concept, or the staff member who makes you feel seen every single day.
Your words will be published on a special Teacher Appreciation Google Site for the whole community—students, parents, and the teachers/staff themselves—to see. Let’s make sure everyone knows just how much our teachers and staff matter to us!

Want to Show Your Appreciation?

Do you or your business/organization want to sponsor something for our faculty during Teacher Appreciation Week?
Contact Cindy Loggins (cloggins@sdoc.org).

Congratulations!

The WHS boys tennis team completed the regular season last week with a 7-0 win over West Oak to clinch the Region Championship!

13-2 overall and 9-0 Region record.
Back to Back Region Champions.
Last 2 years 28-2 overall and 15-0 Region records.

Step Out of the Classroom & Into the Lead!

Ready to leave the high school campus for a bit? As a Teacher Cadet, you head over to our local elementary and middle schools for a hands-on internship.
You won't just be watching; you'll be doing! Join gym class, help with art projects, or lead reading groups. Being the "big kid" role model is incredibly fun, and the younger students will count down the minutes until you arrive.
Why Sign Up Now?
  • Dual Enrollment Credit: Receive college credit through Anderson University while at WHS!
  • Recommendations Waived: For this year only, no recommendation letters are required!
  • Leadership: Learn to manage a room and speak with confidence—skills that help in every job field.

Check out the website below and fill out the Google form by April 30 if you are interested in adding this to your schedule for next year!

Attendance Matters

Are You Talking to Me???

YES!!!!! You! I'm talking to you!

Attendance laws and seat time requirements are set by the state South Carolina and the School District of Oconee County. At WHS, we offer morning make-up sessions, not as a punishment, but as an OPPORTUNITY to earn back the seat time missed and be awarded credit for your classes.

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!

Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-8:45 in the upstairs computer lab (Coach Wimphrie's classroom).

Students missing more than the allowed days and not attending morning make-up sessions may not receive credit for their class.
Don't be late be on time for class

Be On Time!!!

Students getting 5 or more tardies in a class will be assigned LUNCH DETENTION instead of detention during FLEX.
  • Students and parents will get an email notification if/when a student is assigned. It is YOUR JOB to check your email regularly.
  • Students will get their lunch and then report immediately to lunch detention. Students must be present by the following times in order to be counted present.
Lunch A: 12:25
Lunch B: 1:10
Lunch C: 1:55

Let’s get to school and class ON TIME!!!!

No ID = Detention

Students are expected to wear their ID everyday. Students going over the allowed number of temporary IDs (5 each nine weeks) will be assigned detention. After a student receives 2 detentions, they will be assigned ISS, multiple days of ISS, and eventually OSS. Please help us by reinforcing the importance of keeping up with and wearing IDs
***ID violations restart each nine weeks***
***IDs should be visible and worn around the neck or on a belt ID
