WHS Monday Morning Announcements

April 13, 2026

Congratulations, Coach Evan Small!

We’re excited to officially announce Coach Evan Small as the new head coach of our varsity boys' basketball team. Coach Small has been a part of the program for nearly 8 years and has worked hard to build strong relationships and lay a strong foundation for success.
Coach Small is a 2012 graduate of West-Oak High School (we won't hold that against him....) where he was a 3 sport standout athlete. He has also made his mark at WHS as an assistant varsity football coach and is currently an assistant varsity baseball coach.
Welcome, Coach Small!

DECA Blood Drive This Wednesday

DECA is hosting the last blood drive of the year and we need YOU to donate (parents you can come give too)! Look for the donor buses outside the commons area!

Here’s the best part:
  • Donate 3 times during high school (on campus or anywhere with The Blood Connection) and you’ll earn a blood cord for graduation—how cool is that? T
  • It only takes about 20 minutes to donate.
  • You’ll score some free snacks after you give!
  • Plus they give you $30 in Rewards (via a digital gift card at the stores of your choice)!
Pro tip: Eat a good meal and drink plenty of water the day of your donation so you’re ready to go. Spots are limited, so sign up now to reserve yours!

IN SEASON ATHLETES SHOULD NOT GIVE BLOOD ON A PRACTICE OR GAME DAY!!

Attendance Matters

Are You Talking to Me???

YES!!!!! You! I'm talking to you!

Attendance laws and seat time requirements are set by the state South Carolina and the School District of Oconee County. At WHS, we offer morning make-up sessions, not as a punishment, but as an OPPORTUNITY to earn back the seat time missed and be awarded credit for your classes.

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!

Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-8:45 in the upstairs computer lab (Coach Wimphrie's classroom).

Students missing more than the allowed days and not attending morning make-up sessions may not receive credit for their class.
Don't be late be on time for class

Be On Time!!!

Students getting 5 or more tardies in a class will be assigned LUNCH DETENTION instead of detention during FLEX.
  • Students and parents will get an email notification if/when a student is assigned. It is YOUR JOB to check your email regularly.
  • Students will get their lunch and then report immediately to lunch detention. Students must be present by the following times in order to be counted present.
Lunch A: 12:25
Lunch B: 1:10
Lunch C: 1:55

Let’s get to school and class ON TIME!!!!

WHERE IS YOUR ID???

Students are expected to wear their ID everyday. Students going over the allowed number of temporary IDs (5 each nine weeks) will be assigned detention. After a student receives 2 detentions, they will be assigned ISS, multiple days of ISS, and eventually OSS. Please help us by reinforcing the importance of keeping up with and wearing IDs
***ID violations restart each nine weeks***
***IDs should be visible and worn around the neck or on a belt ID

Can I be in a raft with my friends:
  • We will do our best! Each raft can hold 6 students.

  • Towel and a full change of dry clothes (including dry shoes).
  • Plastic bag or dry bag to carry wet stuff home.
  • Optional: Money; snacks and drinks are sold inside Wildwater
What time should I pick up my child:
  • Bus will return around 4:00-4:30pm on Friday (it is difficult to know the exact time we will return as some river trips take longer than others)
